UGG Announces Plant Based Organic Footwear Collection

Published

Bold Spring florals and natural prints are often nothing revolutionary for the warmer seasons but UGG has proved that plant power can reign supreme with their new organic, carbon neutral collection. Reimagining their classic footwear silhouettes without compromising the iconic UGG aesthetic, the brand has launched three new renewable styles derived from ethically sourced materials.

Building on their revolutionary FEEL GOOD platform that aims to blueprint their long term aims as a sustainable outlet to protect the planet and preserve the natural environment, the Southern California based brand has launched the plant power footwear collection. Arriving hand in hand with the brand’s conscious efforts to reduce excess packaging and eliminate paper waste, the intricately made and innovatively designed pieces are made from a combination of sustainable sources including sugarcane, heavea rubber, natural hemp and TENCEL Lyocell made from responsibly harvested trees.

Fluff Sugar Platform – £120

Part of the ever-popular fluff franchise, the fluff sugar sandal and fluff platform are made from TENCEL lyocell; a plant-based material sourced from wood pulp which is converted into regenerated cellulosic fibres. Not only does the organic material define a new era of sustainability but enhances the natural comfort of the shoe as well as providing functional benefits. Also derived from renewable sugarcane, the sugarsole foam outsole reduces the brand’s dependency on fossil fuels by replacing them with petroleum-based alternatives. Available in a spectrum of pastel colourways including pink, yellow, blue and white, the covetable styles champion

“At UGG, we are committed to doing our part to combat climate change. Our design team took inspiration from our iconic styles and created new silhouettes made from carbon-neutral, plant-based materials. The resulting Plant Power Collection tells a story about what is possible, and it is an exciting step in on our journey towards a more sustainable future.”

The conscious collection also extends to the gender-neutral Neumel Natural reinventing the brand’s signature Neumel chukka boot silhouette available in muted colourways of black, indigo, pink and natural. Handcrafted with style, sustainability and practicality in mind, the shoes are made from a blend of cotton and hemp with durable batch soles of LACTAE HEVEA latex organically harvested from the rubber tree.
