Published

Marc Jacobs is channelling the arts with his new Spring 2022 Heaven collection, synthesising fashion, TV and films of the past and present to help educate and inform the youth culture of today.

The collection features many famous faces including Nicki Minaj, Sky Ferreira, Yung Lean, Steve Lacy, Paloma Elsesser and actress Mena Suvari. The Heaven collections draw upon the subcultures from the 90s and reinvent them for the modern generation, providing an exciting and enigmatic insight into the creative mind and world of Marc Jacobs.

The spring collection is divided up into three drops which span the months of March, April and May. Each drop features an eclectic mix of design, with contributions from talented artists and photographers who take us through a punk playground of adolescence, into teenage rebellion and finally finishing up with psychedelic daydreams of the young at heart.

The first drop in March features an exploration of the subconscious, with eerie forms of imagery. Creatives on the first collection saw artists Claire Barrow and Ed Templeton add their own flares to the line. Barrow’s strange and other-worldly designs mixed with Templetons gritty approach to photography perfectly encapsulated the “punk playground” Marc Jacobs aimed to capture. Barrow brought her talent for dynamic drawings to the pieces, with cloud and demented smiles being printed across denim sets, dresses, t-shirts and accessories.

The second drop in April takes inspiration from the Comedy Central series Hi Octane, a four-episode limited series hosted by celebrities of the 90s. The April drop is a loud and proud celebration of 90’s youth culture, boasting iconic logos, phrases and stills from the Comedy Central series. Long-time Heaven contributor Elliot Shields crafts psychedelic graphics for the third drop in May, consisting of trippy floral cartoon prints and graphics from a 1950’s clay animation series called Gumby.

The collection will be available to shop from March 2022 on Marc Jacobs’ website and in select high-end retailers.
