Stella McCartney Introduces Her Most Sustainable Shoe Ever With The New S-Wave Edit
After a showstopping SS23 showcase last month during Paris Fashion Week, Stella McCartney is back and launching the S-Wave – a symbol signalling a new heritage for the British conscious luxury pioneer.
Making its first appearance with a limited edit across the Autumn Winter 2022 collections, the symbol represents the brand’s ever-evolving commitment to circularity, material innovation and conscious leadership – and is set to expand itself with each season.
Balancing harmony with Mother Earth’s nature, the design takes inspiration from strings of DNA by honouring the golden energies that connect us all. Introduced to us this season in a limited line-up, spot the creation as hardware and all-over monogram jacquard on vegan accessories and throughout ready-to-wear collections. Taking centre stage, the brand’s iconic, eponymous trainers and bags, including the Frayme Bag and Savile Row Tailoring, will welcome the visual personification. After over two decades of innovation, the S-Wave Bag and S-Wave 1 Trainer are some of the most sustainable items setting the precedent for a more mindful path for the luxury fashion industry.
McCartney throws it back to the 90s with the S-Wave Bag‘s elongated silhouette – similar to those of the decade’s baguette styles – crafted from 55% grape-based, renewable fibres sourced from the agricultural waste of Italian wineries. With the standout symbol reflected through a zamac plaque, the bag’s backing, lining, and webbing are also made from 100% recycled polyester.
The S-Wave 1 Trainer is stepping into this season as Stella McCartney’s most responsible shoes to date, these single sole low lace-ups stay true to the label’s sustainable ethos crafted from a mixture of the same grape-based alternatives to animal leather. Dressed in a jacquard made from recycled polyester and a sole constructed from recycled TPU, this stylish edit of accessory additions captures the simplicity of life and beauty itself. But it’s not stopping there! Next Spring, this planet-loving family will grow to include the S-Wave 2 High-Top Trainer – yes, we’re already planning on how we can style them!
Celebrating this new chapter, the brand’s “Future of Fashion: An Innovation Conversation With Stella McCartney” installation at Dubai Design Week, has been shaped in honour of the S-Wave. The travelling exhibit will be open to visit from today until November 13th. But keep your eyes peeled because more are sure to pop up soon…
S-Wave hello to a new innovative wardrobe as the ready-to-wear collection and its vegan accessories are available to purchase now online and in stores.
