Second Hand September Might Nearly Be Over But Miu Miu’s Upcycled Project Is Here To Stay

Second Hand September is here to stay! Well, we may be saying farewell to September but we’ve decided to keep carefully-considered fashion and Miu Miu is supporting us every step of the way.

Continuing their Upcycled project into this year’s Fall/Winter season, the Italian high fashion has announced their limited edition leather jackets, each carefully sourced from vintage markets across the world, re-fashioned by Miu Miu and finished in the atelier by hand – and yes, they are as beautiful as you imagine!

Chasing sustainable ideologies and giving a new life to pre-owned and pre-loved clothing, with no more than 50 jackets produced at one time, the iconic silhouette of this typically rebellious male garment embodies a feminine twist with contrasting material 20s’ inspired collars. Expressive of the Miu Miu name, we see contradicting elements of stylized flowers, dainty crystals, python-leather and satin ribbon trims.

Debuting on the runway for FW22, these special creations are accompanied by a campaign that plays on our preconceptions of the masculine perfecto – think shiny vintage motorcycles, gleaming in a warm yet dimly lit urban subway. Starring actors and model, Ever Anderson, Esther Mcgregor and Mame Bineta Sane, we’re left us with many questions. Where did these characters come from? Where are they off to? And what will they do once they get there? Letting only our imaginations answer the unknown questions.

Not only telling the story of the person (or people) who once wore these leather jackets, prior to their thoughtful makeovers, whilst also allowing the opportunity for new stories, of both the present and future, to be told. So, what story of yours is going to be told through this style-oozing garment?
