Saddle up! This Autumn’s All About Western-Inspired Pieces

Published

When Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road was released in 2019, cowboys became cool. That’s not to say that they were never cool, but the anthem put fringed suede on the map. Since then, the western trend has been scattered across runways and Instagram feeds, with Kendall Jenner rocking a pair of knee-high cowboy boots and Dua Lipa adorning a lime green iteration of cow print (to name a few).

Since the announcement of Beyoncé’s latest drop with Adidas – IVY PARK Rodeo – interest in western dressing has spiked further. While denim separates and cowboy boots remain evergreen pieces for brands such as Chloé and Ganni, it is the recent resurgence of fringed-detailing, suede and leather throughout brands collections that confirms the trend is here to stay.

When it comes to styling the trend, it lends itself well to slotting in among your existing collection – don’t worry about having to don matching denim and tassels! Flared jeans will always be a fashion staple, and they look immediately more cowboy-like when the flare falls over some suede boots. Alternatively, suede and leather jackets and shirts often look western-inspired, and they are perfectly suited to your favourite jeans if you want to simply pay homage to the trend rather than go all out. Of course, the simplest way is through accessories – a western belt or cowboy hat is a sure-fire way of ensuring you get those style points. To that we say – yeehaw!
