Karl Lagerfeld & Amber Valletta Wave The Green Flag With Second Sustainable Collection

Published

Karl Lagerfeld announces the continuation of their green commitment as they partner with sustainability ambassador, Amber Valletta for their second collaboration – and let us tell you, we are green with envy of this collection!

As Spring slowly settles in, flowers start to bloom, and the days of being stuck inside with cabin fever seem just that little bit more distant; our love affair with nature is reignited and what better way to celebrate than with a planet-loving collection from one of our FROW favourite designers. Yes, you did read that correctly, Karl Lagerfeld welcomes another eco-friendly collection of ready-to-wear styles, crafted from certified sustainable fabrics and designs, with Valletta.

Building upon the raving PETA Fashion Award-winning success of their Spring Summer Accessories collection last year, the duo presents a brand new capsule further demonstrating Lagerfeld’s pledge to become more sustainable. From certified 100% organic cotton and GRS certified recycled linen to vegan alternative leather, the collection has been designed using mostly natural and environmentally mindful materials.

“Working with Amber has pushed us to think outside of the box, even more, when it comes to innovation and design. This collaboration with her gives us the drive to continuously improve how we move through the world with sustainability at the forefront of our values,”

Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of KARL LAGERFELD.

With items from the capsule retailing from €89 to €545, the collection is filled with tailored styles and neutral-toned hues. Key highlights include a blazer and matching wide-legged trousers, jumpsuit, pencil skirt and crisp white shirt dress, meaning all of these effortlessly chic pieces can be worn all year round. Let’s not fail to mention, the summer must-have recycled linen striped trousers with an extra-wide leg silhouette, bringing a sense of casual sophistication to the line. But, of course, we have to give it to the collaboration’s standout hero pieces, the reimagining of the iconic Karl Lagerfeld Odina Biker Jacket – now arriving in a vegan alternative leather – accompanied by a figure-loving LBD crafted from an innovative circular material.

Surprise, the collection does not stop there, the pairing obviously had to return with the K/Kushion bag – the design of which was inspired by a tailor-made cushion that Karl Lagerfeld was known to carry with him on his travels. Joining this season’s accessories collection are two smaller shapes, the pleated clutch and crossbody bag, all made from vegan cactus leather coloured with organic pigments. The three styles retail from €295 to €395.

“It was important that the collection be designed with timelessness in mind since this idea is closely tied with sustainability and extending the life of our clothes. These are classic, seasonless pieces that can easily be interchanged to create multiple looks,”

Amber Valletta, Model and Activist

But wait no more, as the collection pre-launches today on the brand’s website, Farfetch and Zalando – followed by global availability on April 7th at Karl Lagerfeld stores.
