Iris Van Herpen & Magnum Unveil A Vegan Dress Made From Cocoa Beans At Paris Fashion Week
Are you catwalk ready? Because Iris Van Herpen most definitely is as she partners with premium ice cream brand, Magnum and model, Cindy Bruna to debut the world’s first Haute Couture vegan dress made from cocoa beans. Yes, you heard that right…cocoa beans!
Luxury Dutch fashion designer and avant-garde visionary, Iris Van Herpen teamed up with Magnum to design a dress inspired by the iconic Magnum Vegan Ice Cream. The duo unveiled the unique design at the Elysée Montmartre on the 4th of July, during Paris Fashion Week. Sported by Cindy Bruna, the French fashion model took to the runway showcasing the dessert favourites’ first steps into circular fashion.
Celebrating the brand’s expertly crafted and award-winning Vegan range, consisting of plant-based indulging desserts made without any dairy, the dress marks a first of its kind for the brand after being made from cocoa bean husks. Crafted using an intricate 3D design and sustainable materials to mirror the fusion between the brand’s iconic melting chocolate and Iris’ luxuriously fluid designs.
With plantlike copper-coated body embellishments, draped and entwined with upcycled pliseed organza, and other 3D elements printed using innovative laser technology, the gown’s creation marks the dynamic collision between ice cream and haute couture. Speaking on the collaboration, the forward-thinking creative said: “As a designer, I have always worked to push the boundaries of design and this collaboration has really allowed us to take this one step further by linking the ingredients of an iconic Magnum Vegan to create a haute couture design. The opportunity to work with the brand on such an innovation in sustainable fashion has been a very special experience.”
What an honor to be able to reveal the Magnum Vegan Dress to the world – and to be able to do this at Iris’ 15th anniversary show just makes this even more special. - Cindy Bruna, Model
The show celebrated Van Herpen’s 15th anniversary of her catwalks, debuting her new AW22 collection “Meta Morphism”. The collection explores society’s embrace and acceptance of the new digital world, as we seek the arrival of the Metaverse and how this is becoming an increasingly prevalent part of everyday life. The designer breaks down the lines between reality and digital realms through an avant-garde collection inspired by Ovid’s poem, “Metamorphoses”.
