HELLESSY’s Latest Collection Conquers Edgy, Confident Femininity & We Are So Here For It
From runways and the Front Row to endless celebrities and afterparties, the hustle and bustle of this season’s New York Fashion Week is finally coming to an end; but we’re taking a moment to catch a glimpse of HELLESSY’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection, which was presented during the stylish annual event.
Founder, Sylvie Millstein presents ‘Urban Escapism’, a fresh collection of 27 looks that celebrate seductive, self-assured women who convey their nonchalant style through day-to-night pieces. Whichever city you’re in, whether you’re globetrotting from Cannes to Miami or Tokyo to downtown New York, the new season’s garments create the perfect wardrobe for those wanting to flaunt an urban-cool style.
Inspired by Millstein’s move to Miami, the line features a palm tree embroidered crepe, developed by Maison Hurel Paris, which is applied to add small but elevating touches to tailored pieces, such as a white poplin cotton shirt with a patterned panel in the back. This couture crepe is also seen combining with light knitwear, transitionally perfect for those sunny but crisp spring days, in the form of a blush silk cashmere knit wrap cardigan and a cable knit halter top with scarf-like straps draped over the shoulders.
The Leander Cargo Trousers are a standout within the collection as they arrive in an abstract palm leaf printed silk, a light twist on this year’s much-loved utility trend; alongside the Rupert Silk Blazer, that can be worn for a day in the city before being adapted to an elegant evening blazer. Capturing the essence of smart-casual, the brand places a focus on the small details such as ruched sleeves on shirts and blazers for a laid back but glamorous effect.
A rich botanical colour palette of gold, emerald green, and vermillion, is fused with less saturated shades of navy blue, blush and black. Dramatic shapes are also evident through the Cressida short bubble dress and the Tullia bustier dress with asymmetric ruffle, both sporting the palm embroidered crepe fabric in contrasting shades. We are also treated to appearances of the brand’s signature, sculptural bustiers, reimagined this season with a cascading shoulder drape. Another highlight is the Araminta Halter Knit Long Dress, which is complemented with an azur blue fringed scarf, that takes the comfortableness of a knit dress to the next level of style – who said we have to sacrifice style for comfort?
If you’re looking for more off-duty casual pieces for your wardrobe, then don’t worry as the SS23 HELLESSY collection also offers flattering denim silhouettes and luxe knitwear. Denim, such as the Ziggy Jeans, Beatrix Denim Minidress and the Hicks Front Drape Denim Shirt, have been adorned with gold details, splatters of gold paint and even metallic fringe accents. Knits have also been upgraded with hand-embroidered pearl constellations on the Coco cable cotton knits, also joined by the Kit Boyfriend Jeans. What more could we want?
Sticking to the celebration of confident and sexy women, this Spring/Summer 23 line continues to reflect edgy femininity and never dull sophisticated styles – and if you’re anything like us, that sounds like music to our ears!
