Karl Lagerfeld Releases Conscious Collaboration With Amber Valletta

Published

Harnessing the true power of sustainability and the beauty of the natural environment, the Karl Lagerfeld fashion house has collaborated with supermodel, TV actress and sustainability advocate Amber Valletta for a Spring 2021 conscious accessories collection. Crafted with innovative style and sustainability in mind, the collection champions a minimalistic, modern contemporary aesthetic whilst minimising overall environmental impact and preserving our climate and ocean’s biodiversity.

A key piece within the collection arrives in the form of the special edition K Kushion, inspired by the silhouette and finish of Lagerfeld’s childhood cushion that he carried with him during his travels. The bag will be available in two innovative, eco-friendly material options, both retaining the namesake brands expert craftmanship, quilted patterning and cord detailing. Alongside the conscious bag styles, the collection also extends to smaller, compact everyday accessories including stainless steel reusable water bottles, zip wallets, cardholders, face masks and washbags.

Arriving in two colourways of cactus black and cactus green, the bags are both durable and breathable as well as being coloured with organic pigments to minimise environmental impact. Crafted from vegan cactus leather with organic cotton engineered in Mexico, the sleek styles reduce water consumption and are cultivated without the use of harmful chemicals. Certified by the Global Recycle Standard (GRS), the conscious pieces are stitched in a quilted pattern and a decorative cord finish.

As one of the original 90s supermodels, a prominent muse of the late fashion designer and a member of the Lagerfeld family, Amber commented “Karl and I had so much history together and I’m excited to be partnering with his namesake brand for a project that’s so meaningful” continuing to say that “The K Kushion bag is such a versatile style, and I love how ours will be made with innovative materials and respect for the environment.”

Not only is the collection both sustainable and stylish, but the profits will also be donated to a charity supporting the aims of the fashion pact initiative; an environmental organisation pioneered by luxury French group Kering, aiming to preserve the earth’s natural environment. Lagerfeld himself became a signature member of the charity in 2019 as part of his eco-credentials to protect the natural environment, with the pact even growing to be supported by 60 further global fashion brands.

The conscious accessories collection is now available from official KARL stores worldwide and online as well as selected online retailers including Zalando so be sure to check it out.
