Hunter Kick-Starts Innovative Hunter Bloom Campaign Through Repurposing Harmful Algae

Published

This Summer is taking a sustainable turn as footwear brand Hunter, levels up its mission of creating eco-conscious and purposeful products for the world outside, with an innovative collection of footwear using algae.

The March campaign sees Hunter teaming up with The Herbert Twins – Renee and Elisha – to help people discover comfort in the outdoors. The twins share a passionate love for nature, and with a deep connection to the beaches of Australia and California, Hunter couldn’t have picked a better match for their campaign.

“We were always surrounded by nature. What we wish people considered more is just connecting with nature and coexisting rather than feeling [we are] superior to other things…”

The new Bloom Foam Slide sandals for both men and women are manufactured from a blend of Hunter’s familiar EVA and new algae formula. When blooming in excess, algae can be harmful to the ecosystems that surround them – so Hunter has taken the opportunity to repurpose it into something beneficial to the environment. Through their sourcing, Hunter has been able to successfully clear waterways previously inhibited by the damaging substance.

This campaign acts as the newest instalment in ‘Hunter Protect’, devoted to advocating for sustainability and accountability for the impact manufacturing has on the environment, which was launched last August. Following the commencement of the project, the footwear brand has made the commitment that ‘100%’ of rubber will be made with FSC®-certified natural rubber by 2025 – a certified force of nature within the eco-fashion industry!

The women’s BLOOM foam sandal has a chunky sole, perfect for walking along the beach, crafted with durability at its core. The men’s and women’s foam slides also arrive in a range of different colours and designs, the perfect way to complete a bright summery outfit!

Prices in the collection range from £35 to £50, and are available to shop now on the brand’s website.
