Empowering Women Beyond the Runway - Health, Film, & Style πŸŒŸπŸ‘©β€πŸŽ€πŸ’–

We celebrate International Women's Day by going beyond the runway to honour women's resilience and well-being. As we champion equality, we also turn our attention to Endometriosis Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of gynaecological health and the organisations leading the charge for change.

International Women's Day 2025

This year's theme, "Accelerate Action," underscores the urgency of addressing gender equality in every aspect of life. At FROW, we believe that true empowerment includes advocating for women's health and breaking the silence around issues like endometriosis and other gynaecological conditions.

Endometriosis Awareness Month

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, a time to shed light on a condition that affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth. Endometriosis UK, the leading charity supporting those affected by this condition, is working tirelessly to ensure better outcomes for individuals living with endometriosis. Their mission is rooted in creating a world where endometriosis is recognised and understood, and where it no longer limits people's lives.

Endometriosis UK focuses on reducing diagnosis times (currently averaging nearly nine years), ensuring access to high-quality treatment, and providing support so individuals can thrive in their education, careers, and personal lives. This year's campaign theme, #EndometriosisExplained, emphasises the need for greater public understanding of the condition and improved education among healthcare practitioners. The charity is also advocating for mandatory menstrual health education in schools to help young people recognise symptoms early and seek timely care.

By raising awareness through events for political representatives across the UK and encouraging individuals to share their stories online, Endometriosis UK is driving change at both systemic and grassroots levels. Their work is vital in ensuring that endometriosis receives the same recognition as other chronic conditions like diabetes or asthma.

Empowering Through Education

Two incredible initiatives making waves in women's health advocacy are The Gynae Project and Hertility.

The Gynae Project: This platform is dedicated to raising awareness about gynaecological conditions through education and community support. The Gynae Project provides accessible information on various topics related to gynaecological health while fostering a supportive environment for individuals navigating these challenges. In order to get more educated The Gynae Project also provides information about how to understand and what to expect from hormone tests.

Through their website and YouTube channel, they aim to break down stigmas surrounding gynaecological health by sharing expert insights, patient stories, and practical advice. Their work empowers individuals to better understand their bodies, advocate for their health needs, and connect with others who share similar experiences. By normalising conversations around gynaecological conditions, The Gynae Project is helping to create a culture of openness and support.

Hertility: Seeks to revolutionise women's health, offering hormone and fertility testing, personalised care, and expert guidance. They are passionate about addressing the prevalent issues of women's health. By empowering individuals with in-depth insights into their fertility, hormone health, and overall well-being, Hertility seeks to bridge the gaps in healthcare access and knowledge. Hertility supports women at every stage of their reproductive health journey, from early detection of conditions such as PCOS and endometriosis to fertility assessments and menopause support.

Spotlight on "To Be A Woman"

Adding to these critical conversations is the short film To Be A Woman, created by Million Youth Media (MYM) and directed by Evie Golding. The film follows Tori as she grapples with the physical and emotional challenges of reproductive health issues. It's a stark reminder of the silent battles many women face daily and highlights the importance of empathy, awareness, and accessible care.

Why This Matters

At FROW, we recognise that true style goes beyond fashionβ€”it lies in empowering women in every aspect of their lives. By spotlighting organisations like Endometriosis UK, The Gynae Project and Hertility alongside impactful short films like To Be A Woman, we aim to foster understanding, break down stigmas, and encourage action.
