Did Someone Say High Fashion Streetwear? The Adidas X Gucci Collection Is Finally Here

After historic emblems met sartorial streetwear on the mirror-filled Gucci runway, the first adidas X Gucci collection has been unveiled. Showcasing a cross-category selection of clothing that portrays Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s kaleidoscope aesthetic, whilst mixing codes of the Fashion House with those of the historic sportswear brand. The outcome? High fashion streetwear.

Taking inspiration from an archival 1979 adidas catalogue, Michele animated the concept against brightly coloured backdrops, having models stretch, run and dance to an engaging soundtrack whilst showcasing the women’s and men’s ready-to-wear ensembles – as well as bags, shoes, accessories jewellery and lifestyle pieces.

The iconic and well-respected GG monogram and interlocking G are fused with the adidas Trefoil and presented throughout in colourful prints, including jacquard fabrics; while the red and green Web of Gucci complements the identifying three stripes of adidas. Going the extra collaborative mile, ready-to-wear pieces echo vintage sporting attire whilst taking a contemporary stance. More conventionally formal items, such as leather heels, suede loafers and silk scarves are marked casually. If that wasn’t enough, the collaboration also entices lifestyle items with the standout golf bag arriving in two different variations – a slight nod to the House’s heritage in leisure products.

With a shared commitment to innovation, progress, sustainability goals and collective action, the collection also highlights a few pieces crafted from future-conscious material fabrications, each coming with special packaging which features the duo’s combined logos and that was strategically designed to reduce environmental impact.
