Celebrate Black-Owned Businesses with Innovative Online Marketplace Wakuda

Published

Dedicated to empowering independent black-owned businesses in the UK and advocating for diversity and change in the industry, online global marketplace Wakuda was created to spotlight undiscovered brands that many of us are not aware of. The platform was created last August by Albert Larter and Nathaniel Wade following the empowering Black Lives Matter movement and worldwide protests, inspiring a generation of consumers and entrepreneurs to kickstart their journeys.

So how exactly does the site work? Black-owned small businesses can list, advertise and promote their products, from beauty, clothing and accessories to lifestyle, homeware and art. The platform becomes home to any authentic brands searching for the visibility, support and exposure they deserve. The easy-to-navigate site works in a similar way to the larger retail marketplaces including Amazon and Etsy but makes it easier to identify specifically black-owned brands which many consumers can often find a challenge.

We know how difficult it is for Black business owners to get funding to start or support their businesses. Wakuda gives them a safe space to quickly launch their business and tap into a ready market of shoppers who want to support Black-Owned enterprise.

Alongside housing the unique Black-Owned products, Wakuda also supports and offers knowledge to help grow their businesses as well as giving them access to technological resources. Through this, Wakuda offers these brands a platform to promote their unique products to a wide audience, connecting independent sellers to consumers who contribute to supporting the black community.

Some of the brands include authentic label Vibrations Of A Goddess who sell a range of Divine Goddess natural bath and body products made from natural oils, including the Self Love Bath Soak that cleanses and relaxes your muscles. Alongside this, the brand stocks a range of crystals and natural incense to promote well-being, healing and spirituality. Other notable brands include Stacey-Ann Cole Art who creates Black African portraiture artwork in a range of vivid colours and shapes printed on posters, cards and notebooks. As well as jewellery brand Unveiling Pearls who are home to a selection of stylish earrings. We are obsessing over the brand’s bold statement tear drop shapes made polymer clay!
