Wear Your Waste with H&M’s Conscious Collection

Published

Crafted with style and sustainability in mind, H&M’s have returned with yet another standout, conscious collection. Previous capsules have seen abstract patterning, voluminous silhouettes and vibrant colour palettes but AW2020 sees an innovative take on sustainable fashion. The meticulously designed pieces are made from sustainably sourced materials derived from waste products that would typically have been disposed, including wood pulp, vegan leather and recycled plastics.

Shirt – £79.99 Trousers – £99

What’s more than valuing the beauty of the natural world, the collection also celebrates the art of dressing up, which is certainly a breath of fresh air, seeing as the year of 2020 has been one for expandable waistlines, cosy loungewear and endless pyjama rotations. Practicality has reigned supreme for most of the year but H&M has reconnected us with our inner fashion conscience.

The collection (fronted by Australian model and sustainability advocated Zinnia Kumar) establishes the perfect balance between experimenting with the old and classic but not being afraid of the new, championing effortless chic styles as well as innovatively progressive designs. From striking occasion wear dresses to luxe tailored suiting, the collection explores muted earthy tones and floral patterning inspired by vintage wallpaper as well as dramatic volume and high impact ruffle detailing. The collection is built for every fashion and environmentally conscious woman.

Stand out pieces from the versatile line include a green taffeta off the shoulder dress made from recycled polyester, a structured wrap blouse to be paired with a co-ordinating black trouser made from renewed silk, and not to mention the intricately designed statement boots made from vegan leather that can turn into a pair of mules, yes you did hear us correctly, a boot that becomes a mule! Complete with ethically sourced clothing, the collection also offers statement jewellery pieces including earrings, belts and necklaces that have been crafted from a range of recycled metals.

With another successful conscious collection launch, it is fair to say that the Swedish brand’s journey towards transparency, circularity and sustainability for the future of high street fashion is certainly heading in the right direction. Even better, it arrives just in time for the festive season ahead. The 38 piece capsule collection is now available at the H&M official website, with prices ranging from £24.99 to £299. The perfect way to build your seasonal wardrobe, guilt free.
