Top 5 Social Gaming Spots In Birminghamđšď¸đž
Being a gamer myself, we can tend to spend a lot of time in our rooms gaming online and from time to time we need to take a good break from it, especially for our mental health. We don't realise just how much time we spend on our consoles when we're engrossed in a virtual world and it's not only good to get out and socialise with people, it's healthy. So, I've found some of the best places to go satisfy your gaming needs in Birmingham or around the UK to game with your friends or meet new people IRL!Â
Vortex Gaming
Unlike the rest of the list, Vortex Gaming is perfectly situated on the outskirts of Birmingham at the Resorts World near the NEC, making it a great day out surrounded by a cinema, other entertainment and many restaurants. This spot is great for a day out with friends, family or even date nights as they provide a little something for everyone; Vortex Gaming is a classic retro arcade with VR spheres and epic prizes. Prices for their VR spheres vary depending on the number of people you're booking for: beginning at £6 for one, £10 for two and £15 for four.
Tilt
Tilt is the hidden gem that can be found in the centre of Birmingham at the City Arcade. The venue is full of pinball machines and a bar which offers 18 different craft beer on tap including a selection of cans and bottles. If youâre not that into drinking, they also have specialty coffee on offer working with some of the best roasters out there (hot chocolate and soft drinks are also available btw).Â
Their vibes are warm and inviting, offering an experience unlike any others on this list so if that sounds like your kinda thing, then go ahead and treat yourself to a chilled day out at TILT.
 NQ64
This list wouldn't be complete without a mention of NQ64! Nestled in the hustle and bustle of the iconic Custard Factory in Digbeth, Birmingham but also located nationwide. The themed cocktails are a showstopper with drinks inspired by the games in the arcade including the likes of Kirby, The Simpsons, Donkey Kong and Pokemon. Play retro arcade games and get that hit of nostalgia with a club feel. You'll be free to enjoy a more mature arcade atmosphere with the venue being exclusively for those aged over 18. They offer bookings of 'The Experience' priced from £12 which gets you a cup of 15 game tokens and 1 drink token per person - walk-ins are also welcome.
 Chance & Counters
Just next door from NQ64, Birmingham is Chances & Counters. The perfect place for those who want to get away from the screens and neon and delve into some good olâ board games, this is the place to be. Donât worry, drinks are still on the menu. With over 500 board games, it should be impossible to get bored! If you do feel peckish whilst in the midst of a game, there is a delish menu with plenty to choose from like burgers, wings and dirty fries. To get full access to their extensive library, they'll charge ÂŁ2 per person, per hour; but if you're just their for food and drinks, then don't worry because the fee doesn't apply to you. It's the worse when you go to a venue and they don't accept cash so FYI - They are a cashless venue.Â
Otherworld VR
The Otherworld VR bar is seriously like no other - definitely one for Insta. You can play alone or with friends in a virtual world and choose from many different types of games; from cooking sims, fighting off zombies or PvP with notable titles like Fruit Ninja, Superhot VR, Five Nights At Freddyâs and Half-Life: Alyx. After your VR experience you can use inhouse currency âDreamCoinâ earned in game to get yourself a drink at the self-serve bar. They offer staple VR experiences but if you're after cheaper deals they recommend booking at off-peak times.
Whichever venue you end up picking, you're likely to have a great time! Make sure to tag us on our Instagram or Twitter/X if you do, we would love to see what you get up to in our hometown. For more gaming articles check below.âŹď¸
