Let Us Introduce You To The Latest adidas Originals X Wales Bonner Installation

The latest installation of the adidas Originals X Wales Bonner collaboration returns for the colder season, and it is fair to say that it’s been met with nothing but warm welcomes.

The new collection, “Black Sunlight”, features a range of apparel, footwear and accessories inspired by the diasporic radical thinkers of the 80s. Concluding the trilogy of collections and straying away from Bonner’s usual reimagination of 1970s aesthetics, this season’s themes follow on from those developed in the SS21 and AW20 partnerships. Reflecting on the scholars, poets and artists from the Caribbean, India and West Africa, whose work and writing advanced postcolonial discourse, the collection illuminates a world of Caribbean Thought and Black British intellectualism.

Iconic adidas pieces have been refreshed through a Wales Bonner lens, with highlights from the apparel and accessories offering including an 80s silhouette tracksuit, an anorak and sunhat. Dressed with elevated collegiate graphics, representing academic and spiritual growth, the collection is also home to the updated archived adidas Japan silhouette – coming in a new signature material and deeper colourways that are ideal for the winter months. From dark brown and burgundy to hazy yellow and creamy white, the upcoming launch of the WB Japan sneaker is offered in four colour pairings and are completed with embossed gold foil branding – for that luxurious smart-casual feel

The campaign, shot by photographer Tyler Mitchell, captures the nostalgia of a balmy summer afternoon and is brought to life as models step outdoors into a flower-filled field. Building upon strong themes of identity and representation, that are both seen through Bonner and Mitchell’s work, the campaign conveys the emotive feelings of authentic brotherhood and connectedness.

The collaborative apparel and accessories AW21 collection is available to shop now, with the footwear soon launching at the beginning of 2022. If the third instalment is anything like the duo’s two previous drops, this is definitely one to get your hands on this season before you miss out!
