Adidas Tap into the Creativity of the Depop Community for Custom Sneaker Collection

Adidas Originals have partnered with community-powered marketplace app Depop to launch the new sustainable era of the Stan Smith sneaker. With the ultimate aim of reducing plastic waste and leading towards a more ethical and transparent future, the collection reimagines the classic Stan Smith silhouette. The timeless, high performance shoe is used as an experimental canvas and is now crafted using recycled resources, with each pair arriving with 15% Ortholite sockliners and recycled polyester and rubber laces.

In celebration of the Stan Smith becoming sustainable, it only felt right for the brand to champion innovation and embrace the unique creativity of the Depop community. 40 sellers have been challenged to customise a pair of Primegreen Stan Smith sneakers, each injecting their own sense of personality and character into a classic shoe. The customised sneakers will be available from the sellers Depop accounts, with 100% of the profits donated to a charitable organisation selected by each seller.

What’s more, three creative Depop designers have joined forces with members of the adidas family to rework some of the brand’s timeless second-hand apparel pieces. Sam Nowell pairs up with designer upcycler Paolina Russo, Sarah Robinson teams up with British athlete Laviai Nielsen and Soph Tresadern partners with Easy Life to craft an innovative five piece collection. The result? One of a kind, unique garments all to be paired with the new sustainable Primegreen Stan Smith.
