5 Designers That Took The AW20 Fashion Weeks By Storm

From Burberry to Marc Jacobs, from New York to London, we have seen a glimpse of Autumn/Winter 2020 and now it’s time to plan our own closets.

Moschino – Milan

This breathtaking collection took us back to the 18th Century. This Baroque influenced show included Moschino Creative Director, Jeremy Scott’s interpretation of a modern day pannier dresses. This included leather biker jacket style dresses with hips the width of the runway. The rich gold embroidery and grand pinned back hair, added the 18th Century connotations to nearly every one of the catwalk looks. However, the cake-inspired pannier dresses really stole the show with their uniqueness and extravagance. This referenced Marie Antoinette’s famous quote, “Let them eat cake”. This collection truly spoke glamorous elegance.

Marc Jacobs – New York

Marc Jacobs took a chic minimalistic stance to their AW20 collection. With sleek, clean cut pieces in monochromatic shades, this show really set the tone for Autumn/Winter this year. The oversized jacket really shone through, which contrasted the delicate lingerie garments underneath. The designer continued the minimalistic vibes with his interpretation of the preppy suit; giving us major throwbacks to old school uniforms, layering rounded white collared shirts and the crisp cut knee length suit short.

Nehera – Paris

Nehera’s collection is based on the revival of unwanted clothes into new styles, following their motto ‘nothing goes to waste, everything is transformed’. The catwalk showcased garments with both style and function, by layering the pieces on top of each other to give the perfect Autumn/Winter outfit. The patchwork coats consist of up-cycled contrasting materials of leather and Shearling, in neutral shades – perfect for the popular, Instagrammable street style. The trench coat also featured heavily in the collection, in various wools, tweeds and even vinyl. The perfect collection for a neutral street style enthusiast!

Burberry – London

The most iconic garment of this collection undeniably has to be the range of trench coats – faux fur, tartan, leather, there is something for everyone in this collection. Burberry presented AW20 as the time to get suited and booted, by making the typical workwear suit an everyday essential. Sticking to their neutral colour palette and famous check pattern that they are most known for, this catwalk represents bringing the working woman into the Autumn/Winter. Black quilted coats and jumpers were also seen to be very present within the show. Burberry also branched out from their norms by introducing colourful check patterns, including red, purple and green check – a grungy approach to a traditional check.

Lacoste – Paris

Lacoste’s AW20 line was unveiled at Paris Fashion Week. This collection took a diverse approach, with a range of clothing items and styles. The French company incorporated the classic, Lacoste dark green pieces into the collection, with structured suits and sporty polos. Preppy clothing was also a massive theme on the catwalk, with many tracksuits and varsity-style bowler bags featuring on the runway.
