Say Hello To The New Faces In Fashion And Planet-Loving Collections

Published

Happy February! Whether you’re focusing on self-love, sharing your love or loving the planet, the month of love is here. This week’s fashion news is dedicated to sharing news from some of the brands we love. Read on as we take a look at new sustainable collections from planet-caring brands, introduce you to a fresh scene of fashion labels and discuss the lingerie brand that is championing diversity.

Spanish Fashion Brand Desigual Launches An Upcycling Collection

Beginning the year with one resolution to love the world, Spanish fashion brand Desigual launches an upcycling collection! With a new collection working to create positive fashion in an eco-conscious way, Desigual ensures sustainability is at its core. From jackets and skirts to overalls, all pieces have been crafted using offcuts from second-hand jeans. This collection is 100% committed to sustainability, respecting both people and the planet – it’s a thumbs up from us!

Monki Release Their Planet Power Initiatives And First Circular Collection

Ah February the month of love … wait it’s also the month that Monki releases their first circular collection? This range has been created from mono-material, designed to make garment recycling easier. The exclusive online drop features six timeless and minimalistic garments, with key pieces including a reversible quilted coat and a pair of asymmetric jeans that can be worn two ways. The purposeful white colour palette means the garments use less chemicals whilst also ensuring the longevity of the pieces. Aiming to re-design the perception of fast fashion by becoming a fully circular fashion brand, we are definitely firm supporters of Monki’s initiatives! The collection will be available early February so make sure to keep your eyes peeled!

The notion of longevity during the design stage was a real priority, which is where the neutral colour palette comes in. Not only do we want the customer to love the aesthetics of their garment for longer, but we also want to allow for the opportunity of customisation. For example, plant-based dye or DIY embroidery. And, we encourage the customer to return their loved garment to the fashion loop, by recycling it.

Ted Baker Announce Their High Summer Collection

Marking the first womenswear collection under the new Global Creative Director, Anthony Cuthbertson, Ted Baker’s womenswear SS21 collection is announced. Taking inspiration from the ’60s and ’80s with exaggerated silhouettes and retro florals, this collection is calling our name! However, let’s not gloss over the appearance of structured denim and oversized leather pieces within the line, elevating staples with unexpected details. This is the youthful summer injection we need into our casual wardrobes!

Sunday Archives Announce Their SS21 Trends Ahead Of Launch

Looking for a new brand for 2021? Well look no further, London newcomer Sunday Archives announce their upcoming launch. This black owned womenswear brand takes inspiration from vintage style and heritage pieces. After leaving her fashion buying role at ASOS to launch her first fashion collection for Spring 2021, founder Tracey Curran created Sunday Archives to not follow trends and instead, to celebrate women. Mark your calendars, the brand is set to launch at the end of the month! *turns on Sunday Archives post notifications*

AMBUSH Showcase Their AW21 Collection Focused Around Comfort

Continuing their journey from last season, AMBUSH showcase their Autumn/Winter 2021 collection. Focused around the fundamental idea of comfort, the collection incorporates relaxed yet architectural tailoring with monochrome colour palettes. With boxy ’80s suit jackets and leather coats, these easy to wear pieces are a nod towards elegant, nostalgic silhouettes. Encompassing comfort meets escapism, this line teaches us that comfortable doesn’t have to mean compromising style. If you’re anything like us, you’re already adding the collection to your baskets!

Brora Announces New Season Of Knitwear

We might be longing for summer, but with the colder months continuing our wardrobes are crying out for new knitwear! Brora’s new season of knitwear is the answer to all our concerns, with contemporary style jumpers, cardigans and tanks. This new collection ticks the boxes of this season’s top trends, whilst adding their own take on them. From Scottish made cashmere to lofty alpaca layers, Brora is focused on ultimate comfort.

Lingerie Brand The Underargument Champions Diversity

Let us introduce you to Underargument, a black female-owned lingerie brand that champions diversity and empowerment by casting real women with relatable stories. Aiming to be more than just a lingerie brand, Underargument is a platform for positive change as they blind-cast their models – where they submit their stories rather than photos or measurements. The collection encourages the wearer to embrace their individuality and question the status quo. A lingerie brand promoting diversity and uniqueness? We love it!

As I often say, the world did not need a new lingerie brand. But using a product that’s so close to our skin as a medium reminding us daily to embrace everything that is us made a lot of sense to me.

Maïna Cissé, Founder of Underargument
